Course Description

Adult Education Pathway Program (AEPP) Core Modules equips adult education professionals with the basic tools and knowledge for success in adult education. Participants will develop learner-centered approaches to working with adult learners, effective communication strategies, standards-aligned lesson plans and strong objectives, and resources for further professional development.

Learner Outcomes

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

  • Assess learners’ prior knowledge, learning needs, and college and career readiness goals.
  • Set learning goals and a course of study.
  • Design standards-based instructional units and lesson plans.
  • Design learner-centered instruction and classroom environments.
  • Monitor learning through summative and formative assessment data.
  • Use instructional techniques that are effective for adult learners.
  • Communicate high expectations of learners and motivate them to persist to meet their goals.
  • Participate in professional development networks and learning communities.
  • Possess content area knowledge and teaching skills required for subjects and populations taught
