Course Description

In this 3-week, noncredit workshop series, you will learn more about the upcoming mayoral primary in Philadelphia and how to prepare. Learn why this election is critically important for Philadelphians and how you can influence local politics through the power of your vote. These facilitated live workshops will run from March 29, 2023 to April 12, 2023 and will be hosted by the Institute for Community Engagement and Civic Leadership. Each session will feature special guests who will help prepare us for the upcoming election. Participants who successfully complete the workshop will receive a certificate of completion from the College.

  2. Why We Vote on Judges
  3. The Role of City Council in Local Politic & Ballot Questions

Learner Outcomes

In this workshop series, you will gain an introduction to the following topics:

  • The duty and responsibilities of a mayor
  • Why judges appear on the ballot
  • Why ballot questions are important and how to prepare for them
  • Understanding how City Council works
