HEAL D0014 - Massage Therapy Student Clinic
Course Description
Each student in the Massage Therapy program is required to participate in all student massage clinics and demonstrate their skills developed in the program through the supervised massage appointments. Students will conduct the pre-consult with clients to complete the health history form. The student and the supervising faculty will prepare an appropriate massage therapy plan for the client based on the client’s individual health history responses. Students need to be open to feedback, to learning through tableside instruction, to accepting correction without becoming embarrassed or defiant, and to engaging the client in an active learning experience.
Following the massage, students learn to document the session using the subjective/objective/assessment/plan (SOAP) format. The student clinic experience is designed to serve as a bridge for the student between massage therapy training and being a professional massage therapist.
