Course Description

This workshop delves into factors associated with implicit social cognition that is manifested as implicit bias. Implicit bias, also known as “hidden bias”, refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner.

Learner Outcomes

Upon completion of this course the student will have an understanding of how to:
o    Define hidden bias and some of the forms that it takes
o    Identify different forms of hidden bias
o    Distinguish between hidden and explicit bias
o    Recognize the societal effects of hidden and explicit bias
o    Recognize their own hidden biases
o    Develop an Action Plan to counter hidden biases.
