Students learning through hands-on painting activities acquire and develop skills in color mixing ratios, perspective drawing, scale enlargement, surface area calculation, and understanding light reflection and absorption. They will use various painting media, geometric pattern design, measurement tools, and paint and finish chemistry to create backdrops, paint set props, and finish 3D-printed and constructed elements for Jr. STEM Academy musical productions.

Learner Outcomes

  • Apply ratios, proportions, and scale to mix colors, calculate paint quantities, and enlarge designs from sketches to full-scale backdrops.
  • Demonstrate understanding of color theory and light science to select and mix paints that create desired visual effects under stage lighting.
  • Execute professional scenic painting techniques, including texturing, shading, and highlighting, to transform raw set elements into polished theatrical scenery.
