Course Description

This course introduces students to Computer-Assisted Design (CAD), Scratch, and JavaScript programming principles. Students learning through hands-on activities acquire and develop skills in 3D modeling, geometric reasoning, measurement, scaling, block-based coding, and text-based programming. They will use CAD software, coordinate systems, dimensional accuracy, 3D printers, and Arduino microcontrollers to design, prototype, and fabricate functional components and solutions for various Jr. STEM Academy programs.

Learner Outcomes

  • Identify the hardware/software required to print a three-dimensional object
  • Use the engineering design process to create prototype models
  • Create CAD design concepts, including basic sketches and advanced modeling
  • Identify the basic principles of JavaScript
  • Create JavaScript or Scratch programs to respond to human input
